Description: First State Heritage Park is Delaware’s first urban park without boundaries, nestled in the heart of historic downtown Dover. Centering on the capital’s historic Green and Legislative Hall, FSHP shares the stories of remarkable Delawareans and innovative governance in the First State. For our signature experience, you can join in a program with our talented historical interpreters, costumed head to toe in authentic historic clothing that reflects Dover’s revolutionary heritage. Inspired by a rich history spanning over 300 years, FSHP offers people of all ages an engaging glimpse into days gone by through guided tours, historical theatre, lantern-lit walks, craft demonstrations, and more. Important Information: Walking tours and other programs generally begin at our interpretive center at the John Bell House, located at 43 The Green. Guided programs at Legislative Hall, the current seat of government, and Woodburn, the Governor’s House may also be available. Please contact us at the Park Office (below) for any questions or visit our Facebook page. We are partners with other cultural sites throughout Delaware’s capital and encourage you to visit the Old State House Museum, Johnson Victrola Museum, Biggs Museum of American Art, and the Delaware Public Archives while you are in town. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, typical hours and offering are impacted at all FSHP sites, often requiring advanced registration. We encourage guests to contact us directly to arrange their visits. Getting There:
