DescriptionAlapocas Run State Park features one pavilion and a picnic area with tables and grills, located near the Can-Do-Playground- a barrier free play area for children of all abilities. Nearby athletic fields are available by permit. An extensive trail system affords the opportunity for hiking and biking through fields and forests. Or visit the Blue Ball Barn, a once abandoned dairy barn built by Alfred I. DuPont that has been transformed into a showcase and is the permanent home of the Delaware Folk Art Collection. Nestled within the heart of Wilmington , Alapocas RunState Park is located just off I-95 at RT 202 Concord Pike near the intersection of Foulk and Weldin Roads in north Wilmington.
Alapocas Run is lush getaway situated in the heart of Wilmington, near transportation and major roadways. Trails through softly rolling hills of fields and forest are connected to the Northern Delaware Greenway and pass a rock-climbing area, one of the parks most serene spots.
Alapocas Run has passive and active recreation opportunities. The pavilion is near the popular Can-Do-Playground. Walking and biking trails, multi-purpose athletic fields, rock climbing and the self-interpretive exhibits of turn- of- century dairy farming and the Delaware Folk Art Collection located in the Blue Ball Barn highlight the parks recreation amenities.
Parking is available a short walking distance from the pavilion. Electric, picnic tables and an open field area are available. A restroom facility and the Can-Do Playground are popular amenities.

Alerts and Important InformationThe pavilion is approximately 200 feet from the parking lot, additional fees are charged for amusement devises and canopies. Bring correct change for self-payment of the park entrance fee, use of the athletic fields are by permit. Call the park office at 302- 577-1164 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to obtain permits. The Park Office is located at the Blue Ball Barn.
